Of Wind and Water

April 19, 2018

Today was a pretty easy day. We only had two troublesome fences and 22 miles to cover. So far I've been surprised by the number of thru hikers I've run into, usually about 12 per day. It's far fewer that the PCT but more than I ran into in Arizona or Colorado last year. Like myself, thi isn't the first trip from Mexico to Canada for most of the hikers. Many of them even did the PCT in 2016 or 2017. I haven't run into any familiar faces yet, but I'm sure that will change as I continue on the trail.

As usual, I've been enjoying all the reptiles I get to spot on the trail in the desert section. I spotted countless horned lizards, zebra tails, earless lizards, and one collared lizard who I couldn't help but grab some pictures of.

As the sun set we arrived at our camp at a windmill. For a camp in this desolate section, it was really quite beautiful.
